Britons opting for “staycations” have helped Swift combat the downturn. Founded in 1965 as a touring caravan manufacturer, the Yorkshire firm also designs motor homes, van conversions and holiday homes. As sales at the more expensive end of the market have slowed, Swift has introduced models at a lower price. Chairman Peter Smith is the son of the founder.
