Originally an aircraft seat designer, Thompson developed a chair configuration that allowed airlines to introduce flat bed seats into business class without reducing passenger numbers. It expanded into manufacturing in 2011, and today the County Armagh company offers carriers, including American Airlines, Air Canada, Qantas and SWISS, high levels of seat customisation on short lead times. This helped overseas turnover soar to £50.8m in 2015, under chief executive Gary Montgomery, 49, and chairman Sam Rusk, 63. Following close of research, the company stated that exports rose to £64.3m in 2016.
