An online employee benefits management platform called Perquisite enables employers to record sick days and administer perks for staff at companies such as MTV, Royal Bank of Scotland, Vanco and Betfair. It was developed by Thomsons Online Benefits, founded in 2000 by Michael Whitfield and Chris Bruce with £25,000. In 2004 the duo undertook a management buyout backed by Pi Capital, which paid a reported £5m. Recent expansion into Asia and an investment in recruitment and technology have helped to raise sales 68% a year from £1.8m in 2004 to £8.6m in 2007.
