TI Automotive reckons that half the 57m cars built every year around the world use its brake, fuel or powertrain parts. Employing almost 18,000 people in 27 countries, the Oxford car-parts firm was spun out of the Smiths Group in 2001. Last year a consortium of investment funds managed by Oaktree Capital and Duquesne Capital bought it for an undisclosed sum, and Bill Kozyra, former head of Continental’s North American operations, has just taken over as chairman and chief executive. Sales were £1,395m in 2007.
