Making changes to a complex IT system can have unpredictable knock-on effects. Tideway Systems has developed a collaborative software platform that maps how components such as servers, applications and databases work together. This minimises downtime and help clients such as BT, JP Morgan and Linklaters manage IT costs. Founded by Richard Muirhead, the London company has secured funding of nearly £6m from Apax Partners and other investors. Sales climbed 250% a year from £401,000 in 2004 to an annualised £4.9m in 2006, when it made a significant loss.
