“Top Brands – bottom prices” is the promise of Tom Morris’s 125 Home Bargains outlets. Coming from two generations of Liverpool shopkeepers, he opened his first store 30 years ago and today sells cut-price branded goods ranging from health and beauty products to food and toys. With his three brothers now helping to run the business, Morris shows no sign of taking his foot off the pedal, aiming for 500 stores by 2015. Sales of £273.4m in 2006 were boosted by the opening of 20 new outlets during the year.
