Tradex provides insurance for small businesses in the motor industry, and claims that 20% of London’s black cabs are covered by its policies. Founded in 1995 by Roy Clegg, Tradex is based in London and has six other offices, stretching from Edinburgh to the Channel Islands. Its profits have grown 68% a year from £922,000 in 2000 to £4.4m in 2003. Its most unusual policy to date, worth £1,000, was for a Sherman tank that was driven around Westminster as part of an advertising campaign.
