More than 6.5m people stay at one of Travelodge’s budget hotels every year, with tariffs starting at just £15 a night. The company is working on boosting business and says it is on course to meet its target of opening 30 new hotels this year. Dubai International Capital bought the business in 2006 for £675m, keeping chief executive Grant Hearn at the reins. Sales were £203.5m in 2006.
