The Telford-based tyre wholesaler Treadsetters started life in 1999 as a distributor of truck tyres. The company now exports to 35 countries and acts as exclusive agent for a Chinese budget tyre range. Its product range covers tyres for trucks, buses, cars and heavy plant, and it can create bespoke wheels for special purpose vehicles. Founders Peter Smith, 67, Trefor Jones, 65, Matthew Smith, 40, and Tim Davis, 38, say strong relationships with suppliers have helped Treadsetters to grow. Its Chinese manufacturer Shandong Hengfeng produces the company’s own Torque tyre range, shipping orders direct from China to Treadsetters’ customers worldwide.
