Homebuyers face a daunting task when it comes to finding the best mortgage. It is not much easier for brokers. Trigold claims its Prospector software helps 23,000 brokers find the most suitable loans for their clients from more than 150 lenders. The idea for the business was conceived by the Council of Mortgage Lenders and then developed by a group of private investors in 1999, who bought and integrated the software company Trigold Solutions the same year. Having since secured additional backing from the online bank Egg and Abbey, it has seen sales grow 143% a year from £685,000 in 2002 to £4m in 2004.
