Serial entrepreneur David Frank, 59, founded this company in 2014 after selling his production company RDF Media – which featured on Fast Track 100 for three consecutive years from 2001 – for £150m in 2010 to De Agostini. His experiences led him to identify the inefficiencies in secondary TV rights trading, a market worth $5bn but still entirely offline. TRX’s online marketplace charges rights owners a transaction fee of 3-9% of any deal, and allows buyers and sellers to complete deals entirely online. It has already signed up over 80 distributors – including BBC Worldwide and Gogglebox-creator All3Media – and more than 500 buyers. The company has raised £10.8m from backers including Sky Ventures and Channel 4.
