Founded in 2005 by telecoms engineer Alan Ockenden, this Windsor-based company recovers and buys second-hand telecoms infrastructure – such as fibreoptic networks, satellites and mobilephone transmitters – from global telecommunications operators that no longer need the parts, and sells them to clients that do. Storing 400,000 parts in its warehouses, it ships to clients in Europe, the US and the Asia Pacific region. Having increased business with existing clients, and helped by clients’ cost-cutting in the recession, TXO Systems increased sales by 60% a year, from £2.1m in 2008 to £8.7m in 2011.
