Ubiquity Software, based in South Wales, provides the telecoms industry with software that links hardware from different manufacturers. The company also develops audio and web-conferencing technology. Ubiquity has raised £26m of private equity from a range of firms including CapVest, JK&B Capital and Alcatel. The firm was founded in 1993 and is headed by Ian McLaren, a Canadian – and now has offices in Ontario and California. Although it made a significant loss, sales have grown 71% a year from £700,000 in 2000 to £2m in 2002.
