The RTLS, or Real Time Location System, developed by this Cambridge company provides precise location data to the likes of BMW and the US Department of Defense. Unlike GPS, Ubisense’s RTLS works indoors as well as out, and can be used, for example, to locate a tool in a factory, or to find and identify cars in finishing bays during final quality checks. The company was founded in 2003 and is led by chief executive Richard Green. Sales have grown 128% a year from £819,000 in 2005 to £9.7m in 2008.
