Peter Stack is a veteran of the compilation-albums business, having previously set up and run Music Collection International. When that company was acquired by Kingfisher in 1998, Stack founded Union Square Music, which makes ‘best of’ CDs and DVDs for artists such as Nina Simone, and compilations such as Brazil – The Essential Album. Union Square is also a licensing company and has back-catalogue rights to labels such as Acid Jazz and Stiff Records. Sales at the Uxbridge company have grown 92% a year from an annualised £664,000 in 2000 to £4.7m in 2003.
