Unipart recently signed a 10-year deal with Boots, worth £7m a year, to manage one of the chemist’s distribution centres in Nottingham. The deal continues Unipart’s expansion from its original car-parts distribution business, now that large contracts with Rover and Land Rover have ended. The company’s other high-street customers include Halfords and Homebase. Sales reached £1,058m in 2003. Unipart was founded in 1987, after a management buyout of the car-parts division of British Leyland.
