Surrey-based United Foods claims to produce more than 100m litres of chilled fruit juices a year at its factory in Germany. In Britain it trades under the name Grove Fresh and sells only organic products. On the Continent most of its sales come from non-organic juices, with about half of all juice being packaged for sale by other companies under their own brands. New, efficient production lines have helped to streamline costs at United Foods and lift profits 53% a year from £913,000 in 2000 to £3.2m in 2003.
