United Wholesale (Scotland)

Mohammad Sarwar – elected Britain’s first Muslim MP in 1997 – set up United Wholesale (Scotland) in 2002. The Glasgow cash-and-carry firm, which trades under the name UWS, sells groceries, alcoholic drinks and tobacco. It also supplies 100 independent shops, operating under the Day-Today banner. Last year it launched the website todaysgreatdeal.com, offering discount vouchers for groceries, clothing and holidays.
