Unwins is revamping the wine range in its 381 stores after its sale by the Wetz family in March 2004 to DM Private Equity in a £34m deal. The other divisions in the group are also set for a shake-up. These include Phillips Newman – which has two London stores and markets branded wines and spirits such as Duchatel Champagne and Ben Roland Scotch – and PN Wholesale, the distribution arm. The firm’s sales in 2004 were £178.6m.
