Veetee Foods makes microwave rice dishes under the brand Veetee Dine In. The company uses exclusive technology to steam natural white rice rather than the parboiled variety used in other convenience dishes. It was founded in 2006 by the entrepreneur Moni Varma, 63, with £10m start-up funds along with personal savings, and is separate from other businesses owned by him. Production capacity was doubled at the end of 2011 to meet increased demand after successful launches in North America, mainland Europe, Australia and New Zealand. This year the company has been turning its attention to pasta.
