The Vestey family were among the first to invest in South American ranches to provide a ready supply of meat for Britain, having founded their business as a butcher’s at the end of the 19th century. The core of the business is Angliss, which supplies meat, seafood, and dairy products to hotels, restaurants, retailers and wholesalers. Chaired by Lord Vestey, the group, based in Liverpool, reported sales of £537m for 2006.
