Profit Track 100

Trained vet and chairman Richard Dixon, 45, started this provider of emergency out-of-hours pet care in 2001 after handling night-time and weekend calls for local vets to fund his PhD. Now led by managing directors Fiona Dewar, 45, and Mark Ross, 41, the Dunfermline-based company operates 53 emergency vet clinics nationwide including two animal hospitals, with plans for a third hospital and five new clinics. In 2014 it opened a new central call centre, which took 440,000 calls from worried pet owners last year, when profits grew to £3.9m.
