Vibrant Media’s online advertising technology picks out key words from millions of web pages and creates click-through text links for sponsoring companies. Its core products provide targeted ads for customers such as Microsoft and HP, which pay a fee each time a user clicks a text or graphic link on the websites of publishers that have gone into partnership with it. The 2001 decision of the co-founders and former AOL Europe colleagues Doug Stevenson and Craig Gooding to move into the expanding American market has boosted sales 134% a year from £1.2m in 2002 to £6.8m in 2004. In July, Vibrant Media raised £17m from an American private-equity firm to fund expansion in America, Europe and Asia.
