Virgin Atlantic was founded in 1984 by Sir Richard Branson, 66, and is led by chief executive Craig Kreeger, 57. It reported a 3% drop in revenues in 2016 to £2.7bn but remained profitable for the third year in a row, helped by a £300m investment plan. Last year more than 5.4m passengers flew to 26 destinations with Virgin, which has placed an order for 12 new Airbus A350-1000s worth $4.4bn (£3.4bn) at list price.
