Virgin Atlantic was founded in 1984 by Sir Richard Branson, 67, and is led by chief executive Craig Kreeger, 58. Last year, sales at the Crawley firm dropped 1% to £2.7bn, in part due to the weakening of the pound relative to the US dollar and a highly competitive market. Last July, it announced that Branson would sell a 31% stake in the business to Air France-KLM — in a deal set to complete in 2019 — which will leave him with 20%.
