Chris van der Kuyl founded VIS Entertainment in 1996 to make computer games. With 140 staff in offices from Glasgow to the Isle of Wight, VIS developed I-Race, a digital TV horseracing channel, in a joint venture with Telewest. Its computer game, State of Emergency, reached No.1 in the American chart. Sales have risen 81% a year from £1.1m in 1999 to £3.6m in 2001. The Dunfermline firm achieved break-even this year.
