After the recent acquisitions of Apollo UK, CinemaxX and Multikino, Vue Entertainment has 145 cinemas in 9 countries, with 78 in the UK. The chain was formed in 2003 when it bought 36 cinemas from Warner Village. Doughty Hanson acquired the business for £450m in 2010, selling it in June this year for a reported £935m to Canadian pension funds AIMCo and Omers. Vue is led by chief executive Tim Richards, 54.
