Under chief executive Tim Richards, 58, Vue has been pursuing a buy-and-build strategy: after its £62m acquisition of the Dutch chain JT Bioscopen in 2015, it now has 211 cinemas in 10 countries. The London firm’s sales grew 9% to £773m last year, helped by hit Hollywood films such as Star Wars: Episode VII, Finding Dory and Deadpool. It is backed by the Canadian pension funds AimCo and OMERS.
