Vue’s cinemas will start reopening from July 31, with most of its 5,000-plus UK staff having been on furlough since April. Founded in 1999 by chief executive Tim Richards, 61, it operates 228 cinemas across the UK, Europe and Taiwan. Richards has led the company through a number of changes in ownership, most recently in 2013, when it was sold to Canadian pension fund investors AIMCo and Omers.
