Wagamama — which means “naughty child” in Japanese — serves a Japanese inspired menu of noodles and Asian food, cooked fresh and served to diners on communal tables. Created by Alan Yau in Bloomsbury in 1992, the company now has restaurants across Britain and America with franchises in 14 other countries. In 2011, Duke Street Capital and Hutton Collins acquired an 82% stake for £230m. The group is led by chief executive David Campbell, 56, and appointed Allan Leighton, 62, as chairman in July.
