This firm says its website attracts 50m hits a month from enthusiasts and professionals looking for photographic goods, binoculars and astronomy equipment. This translated into 130,000 customers buying equipment worth £23m in 2005, up 79% a year from £4m in 2002. Forecasts show that chief executive Colin McCarthy may well be on the way to sales of £100m a year by the end of the decade, thanks to a growing customer base and a product range that has risen from 3,000 goods in 2002 to 20,000 today. Last year founder Howard Utting sold a majority share in the Norwich company to Barclays Ventures for £6.5m. The management bought a 24% stake at the same time.
