Preparing fresh food in care homes, homeless shelters and schools is the business of Waterfall Services. A big provider of kosher food to schools in London, it also serves the MS Society, the YMCA and St Mungo’s homeless shelter. The Cheshire-based business recently benefited from a government pilot scheme offering free school meals in Durham. In 2007 the venture capitalist Yorkshire Fund Managers invested in the firm, and under chief executive Jim Lovett, sales grew 58% a year, from £11.1m in 2008 to £43.3m in 2011.
