Set up as a subsidiary of the Hugh Symons Group in 1996 to work on a project for Nokia, WDS Global demerged in 2005. The company runs an online database and call centres that provide technical services for wireless-product users. It collects information from consumers’ queries, develops and tests wireless tech- nology and feeds back the results to manufacturers and network operators so they can improve their products. Chaired by Geoffrey Roper and led by chief executive David Ffoulkes- Jones, the Poole firm increased sales by 66% from £9m in 2003 to £24.8m in 2005, partly due to new contracts and global expansion.
