Weetabix was bought by the American private-equity firm HMTF last November, ending 70 years of control by the George family. HMTF paid £642m for the Northamptonshire company, which also makes Alpen and Weetos and is second only to Kellogg’s in UK market share. Annualised sales of £355m in 2002 remain the latest figures available.
