Having provided breakfast for generations of British schoolchildren since the company was established in 1932, Weetabix now produces 100 cereal biscuits a second at its Kettering factory and exports to more than 80 countries. The company is listed on Ofex and headed by family owner Sir Richard George. Weetabix’s sales rose to an annualised £355m in 2002, when it employed 2,813 people. But the company faces stiff competition from newly popular breakfast bars, which now make up 10% of the UK breakfast cereal market.
