This Scottish distiller shifted production at three of its sites during the Covid-19 outbreak to start producing five million litres of ethanol for hand sanitiser. Founded in 1887, it makes Glenfiddich, the world’s best-selling single malt, as well as spirits such as Sailor Jerry spiced rum. It is owned by one of Scotland’s richest families, the Gordons, and is led by chief executive Simon Hunt, 48. In March, the company announced plans to launch a fully-owned subsidiary in Germany.
