Robert Arpino led a management buyout of Windrush Frozen Foods in 1995, when it was a struggling frozen-food supplier, and has transformed it into a niche purveyor of Mediterranean food to restaurant chains. The company’s chef, Eddie Grimes, devises complete menus for customers in its kitchen. The Oxfordshire company then supplies restaurants with the raw ingredients. This innovative business model has driven up sales 72% a year from £1.2m in 1998 to £6m in 2001, when it employed 18 staff.
