Its customers include individuals, online sellers and exporters. It expanded into Australia in 2008, followed by America and Asia. WorldFirst is chaired by the newly appointed chairman of the BBC, Sir David Clementi, 68, and is backed by US private equity firm FTV Capital. Sales hit £83.6m in 2016. In September, it announced a partnership with Bank of Ireland to launch a secure payments service in America.
