For high-definition voice and video services to work, different telecoms networks need a high level of interconnectivity. By giving each telephone number its own internet protocol address, XConnect solves the problem of network incompatibility, which would otherwise limit communication. Led by founder Eli Katz, the London business secured £13.5m in private equity funding between 2007 and 2009, from Accel Partners and Venrock Associates, among others. Sales grew 172% a year from an annualised £356,000 in 2007 to £7.1m in 2010.
