Yorktest’s John Graham suffered from arthritis for 26 years before a friend suggested that food intolerance might be a factor. He took a blood test, modified his diet, and within a few months his pain had disappeared. Impressed by the result, he invested in Yorktest Laboratories, which made the test kit. Yorktest sells a simple home test that costs £20 and from a pinprick of blood indicates whether a food intolerance is likely by analysing the levels of antibodies. Sales at Yorktest have increased 48% a year from £794,000 in 2000 to an annualised £1.8m in 2002.
