Lithuanian entrepreneurs Rytis Vitkauskas, 30, and Viktoras Jucikas, 33, launched their “tonight’s going out app” in 2012, allowing people to find and book tickets for events at the last minute. YPlan works with more than 800 event partners in London including the Barbican, the South Bank Centre, the Royal Albert Hall and the Comedy Store, and its app has been downloaded 1m times. Backed by investors including General Catalyst, Wellington Partners, Octopus, the London-headquartered company is now also operating in San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York and Edinburgh. Sales, which represent total bookings, are forecast to reach $10m this year (‡).
