Founded in 2005 by chief executive Giles Andrews, 48, with members of the management team of former internet bank Egg, Zopa says it is the country’s oldest peer-to-peer lending website. The company charges a fee to facilitate personal loans between individuals and recently completed a £15m funding round led by Arrowgrass Capital to fund further expansion. London-based Zopa says its £5.4m turnover, representing commission received, gives it a 1% share of the UK personal loans market.
