Former car dealer Giles Andrews, 49, started this London firm in 2005 with members of the management team of former internet bank Egg. Zopa generates revenue by charging a fee to facilitate loans between individuals, and says it is the country’s oldest peer-to-peer lending website. Last year it raised £15m in a funding round led by Arrowgrass Capital, helping it increase the number of borrowers on its books to more than 110,000. Sales hit £11.5m last year, and it recently announced an agreement with Uber to help its drivers get credit so they can buy cars.
