Peter Landale began his career selling electronic catalogues. One of them lists all the books published in Britain and he first sold this to Geoff Bezos of Amazon in 1994.
Landale’s company Zygon Systems develops product information management software. Its customers include Woolworths and Argos, which uses Zygon software to manage the information for its website and in-store kiosks. Sales at the London company grew 207% a year from an annualised £124,000 in 1999 to £1.2m in 2001, when it made a large loss.
