COVID-19 update

3rd April 2020

Updated 30th April:

At this difficult and uncertain time, Fast Track has made a number of changes to its annual programme of networking events and league table supplements that we would like to share.

Our networking events

All our national awards dinners and alumni company networking dinners have been postponed until the second half of the year, and will begin again, official guidance permitting, in September.

Tim Steiner OBE, co-founder and chief executive, Ocado

Tim Steiner, co-founder and CEO of Ocado – which has been at the forefront of delivering food to homes and has recently bought 100,000 Covid-19 test kits for its staff. Tim spoke at our Tech Track 100 awards dinner in 2019

Our league tables

Our research continues into Britain’s leading private companies, including identifying the country’s fastest-growing tech (TMT) firms for the 20th anniversary edition of our Sunday Times Tech Track 100, which will be published on 6 September. To nominate your company please click here.

Our 21st annual Sunday Times Profit Track Covid-19 edition was published in the Sunday Times on 26th April and on our website.

We hope it recognises the impressive past performance of all the private companies that feature and their contribution to the economy at this challenging time. It also highlights the actions that many are taking in their businesses to support their local communities, the NHS and key workers during the pandemic.

On 5 July, we plan to publish our 19th annual Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 100 Covid-19 edition that will also highlight some of the responses of Britain’s 100 biggest private companies to the pandemic.

Covid-19 related alumni company activity

On LinkedIn we are highlighting some of the positive efforts that our Fast Track alumni companies are making in response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic both at home and overseas.

For instance, Ineos has now built a new hand sanitiser plant near Middlesbrough, while The Hut Group (THG) has set up a £10m aid package to support vulnerable people, key workers and emergency services during the crisis.

Smaller companies are also being proactive. For instance, Brewdog is producing hand sanitiser at its brewery in Scotland and Brompton Bicycle is building 1,000 new folding bikes that it will rent for free to NHS staff to help them get to work.

We will continue to provide Covid-19 related company updates on our LinkedIn account, so please follow us here.

Any Fast Track alumnus that would like to share its Covid-19 related news with us, please email twitter@fasttrack.co.uk.

Thank you to our team, sponsors and suppliers

To protect the health and wellbeing of our colleagues and their families at home all our staff have been working from home; and a number have had to be furloughed, including our events team.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our team, our sponsors, our Fast Track alumni and our suppliers for their continuing support and patience, and we look forward to returning to our full programme of networking events when it is safe to do so.
